Though this is a more simple procedure than traditional liposuction, it is still considered a surgical procedure. You will have specific instructions to follow in preparation for the procedure, and some will start weeks prior to the scheduled appointment date.
During tumescent liposuction, excess fat is removed, and your body is shaped and sculpted to the natural curves of your body. During the treatment, you can expect the following:
Most of the swelling will go down in a few days. Most patients will typically experience some discomfort after the procedure which can be managed with Tylenol. Dr. Potozkin will send you home with detailed post-op instructions. Most people can return to work in a few days and back to exercising within 4-7 days.
You’ll start to see improved results within 1-2 weeks of the procedure, but the full results will be seen a few months post-treatment. The results of tumescent liposuction are permanent for the specific areas treated. Fat cells can't migrate or multiply, so once they are removed from a specific area, they don’t come back even if the person gains weight. They may just redistribute elsewhere.
It’s important to note that any type of liposuction isn’t a complete weight-loss method. To maintain results, a healthy diet and exercise routine are encouraged. Though, getting tumescent liposuction will often motivate patients to improve their lifestyle post-operatively.
