If you’re tired of heavy droopy eyelids or puffiness under your eyes then you may be a candidate for an in office surgical procedure known as blepharoplasty. Upper lid blepharoplasty is a procedure in which the excess skin of the upper eyelid is removed to create a more youthful natural look. This procedure typically takes about an hour and most people are back to their normal routine within 10-14 days. Sutures are usually in place for about 7 days. Lower lid blepharoplasty is to help reduce the puffiness or “bags” under the eyes.
We perform what is known as transconjunctival blepharoplasty where the extra fat is removed through a small incision made through the inner surface of the eyelid. This results in no visible scar. Some patients seeking a lower blepharoplasty are actually better served by filling the cheek hollows with and injectable filler. At the time of your consultation we will fully evaluate your concerns and educate you about your options. We only perform blepharoplasty for cosmetic purposes and do not bill insurance for this. Both procedures are performed in our fully accredited operating rooms. The procedures are performed with local anesthesia which removes the risks of being “put under” general anesthesia.
