How Ultherapy® Can Give You Firm Skin
Smooth, well toned skin can take years off your age. For years, unless you were naturally blessed with the best set of genes, this meant regular treatments and possibly visits to the plastic surgeon for face lifts to keep that youthful look well into your golden years. Now, however, newer non-invasive treatments like Ultherapy® offer alternatives that can be worked into a regular day with none of the baggage that comes with traditional plastic surgery.
What is Ultherapy?
The treatment is FDA approved for use in reducing wrinkles and improving decolletage lines. It has been used as a non-invasive alternative for eyebrow, under-chin and neck lifts for a while now. This what happens during a session:
- The treatment: Unlike usual laser therapy that works on the outer layers of your skin, Ultherapy targets the underlying deep layers of the dermis. An ultrasound frequency is sent out of the device which stimulates collagen production. It essentially jumpstarts skin regeneration to tighten, tone and lift your skin.
- Anesthesia: Since it is non-invasive, there is no need for heavy sedation or any anesthesia. However, local anesthesia may be used to reduce any discomfort or pain during the procedure.
- Post-therapy care: After the treatment, you will find your skin may be a little red, swollen or irritated. This is normal. Be sure to use sunblock whenever you venture out to protect the skin. The skin should return to normal within a few days and you will soon start to see the results of your treatment.
What To Expect From Ultherapy For Your Skin: An Ultherapy session for the full face usually lasts between 45 minutes to an hour and a half and gives results that will last for as long as two years. It leaves the skin look revived and refreshed, and gives you a more youthful appearance. For lasting results, your aesthetician or plastic surgeon will usually recommend a course of three sessions. Follow ups can be done in the year following a course of treatment to keep up the same results. Keep in mind that while healing takes just a few days, the full results of your therapy will be visible in about 2 to 3 months time.
