Juvéderm is a minimally invasive injectable designed to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles. Keep reading to learn more about this unique and effective dermal filler and find out if it’s the right choice for you.
What Is Juvéderm Made Of?
Juvéderm is made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally-occurring substance found in the body. Because HA is found in the body, there is no allergy testing required and the risk of side effects is greatly reduced. Some forms of Juvéderm contain lidocaine, a type of local anesthesia used to decrease discomfort during these injections.
How Do The Injections Work?
Young, vibrant skin contains hyaluronic acid. This acid helps to create a healthy glow and reduces the amount of wrinkles present on the face. However hyaluronic acid decreases as we age, causing the skin to slowly loosen in both structure and volume, leading to wrinkles and fine lines. The areas that are most highly impacted are the areas around the mouth and nose, which can add years to the skin and face.
Juvéderm is injected into the skin, targeted at areas where lines and wrinkles are most prominent, such as around the nose, mouth, and the flat of the forehead. The injections replace lost hyaluronic acid in the skin, allowing it to regain its youthful appearance while reversing signs of lines and wrinkles.
