Vein Center

Although they may be small, spider veins underneath the skin on your legs can make you feel unattractive. Varicose veins, which are sometimes raised above the surface of the skin, can be rather painful as well. Dr. Brar can rid you of unwanted, unsightly veins through the use of several advanced medical procedures. At the East Bay Vein Center, Inc., we offer CoolTouch CTEV Endovenous Laser, sclerotherapy, ambulatory phlebectomy. All of our procedures will be performed in our fully accredited office with local anesthesia.

Sclerotherapy

An effective, advanced treatment called sclerotherapy is provided by Dr. Brar to patients who seek to reduce the appearance of unwanted veins. Performed at the East Bay Vein Center, Inc., a special solution is injected into the vein using a very fine needle. This solution causes the lining within the blood vessel to swell shut, preventing blood from entering the vein. Over the next few weeks, the vessel will fade until it is nearly or completely invisible. You should experience little to no discomfort during the sclerotherapy procedure. You can generally return to your everyday activities right away, although you should avoid strenuous activity for at least 24 hours. We are now offering foam sclerotherapy which can rid you of larger veins that traditionally responded best to surgery. If you've had sclerotherapy performed on your legs, we recommend support hose to help achieve more effective results. You may experience redness, swelling, bruising, or tiny ulcers at the injection site. However, these should subside within a few weeks or months. In just a short while, you should be delighted with the results.

Please contact our offices to learn more about sclerotherapy at our East Bay locations in Danville and Walnut Creek.

Ambulatory Phlebectomy

Some swollen veins do not respond to traditional sclerotherapy and must be removed from the body. These veins can be treated with ambulatory phlebectomy - the procedure that permanently removes the veins. During the procedure, Dr. Brar will make small incisions in the skin so that she can reach the swollen veins. She will then use a small surgical instrument to remove the damaged veins from the body. Following ambulatory phlebectomy, the patient usually experiences minor discomfort. The patient may be required to wear a compression garment for several days after the procedure to maintain the new appearance of the body. There may be some bruising but this usually subsides to produce beautiful, smooth skin surfaces.

Please contact our offices to learn more about ambulatory phlebectomy.

CoolTouch® CTEV Endovenous Laser

Dr. Brar also offers the laser treatment, CoolTouch CTEV for patients who are seeking a minimally invasive approach to vein treatment. The CoolTouch CTEV system is a laser endovenous treatment for varicose veins. This treatment utilizes a wavelength of light that has shown in clinical studies to cause less bruising, fewer complications, and promote quicker recovery times than other laser treatments. Most patients find that they can return to their daily activities within a few days. Endovenous laser procedures are rapidly replacing traditional vein stripping as it is both more effective and safer.

Our center is one of the first practices in California to purchase this technology.

Please contact Dr. Brar today to learn more about CoolTouch CTEV treatment for varicose veins.
