Dr. Potozkin was the first physician in the East Bay area to incorporate the VISIA™ Complexion Analysis system into his practice. VISIA™ is a revolutionary new system that helps your dermatologist or physician to accurately measure wrinkles, evenness, pores, and pigmentation. Using digital photos and a comparison system, your skin will then be graded based on age and ethnicity. This allows your dermatologist to design a comprehensive treatment program based on your skin's needs and to monitor your progress.
We offer the VISIA™ skin analysis as a complimentary service with any consultation.

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive spa procedure that rejuvenates the appearance of the skin by treating sun damage, superficial pigmentation and other unwanted skin problems. This procedure uses a gentle stream of tiny particles to exfoliate the outer layer of skin, leaving fresh, younger-looking skin and a renewed appearance. Microdermabrasion may be combined with other procedures such as chemical peels or laser treatment for more significant results.
Microdermabrasion reduces the appearance of mild to moderate sun damage, and other superficial skin problems with a gentle stream of tiny particles that exfoliate (abrade) the outer layer of skin and provide a fresh, glowing, younger appearance.
The particles scrape away the surface layer of aging or damaged skin, which is then brushed off with the microdermabrasion vacuum tool, with no need for anesthesia. Only a small amount of skin is removed, so damaged areas on sensitive areas such as the face, chest, neck, arms and hands can be treated.
Results are comparable to a light chemical peel and should be immediately visible, although multiple treatments are usually required for full effect. Specific skin improvement varies for each individual patient.
Microdermabrasion treatments usually take about 30 minutes to perform, although some areas may require additional time.
Yes. Microdermabrasion can be performed on all skin types. In fact, the procedure is particularly helpful for Asian and dark-skinned patients who risk skin discoloration with other treatment options.
Patients with recent viral infections or those with poor healing or excessive scarring may want to reconsider treatment.
The results of microdermabrasion depend on each patient's individual skin, as well as their dedication to caring for their skin after treatment. Results can be maintained through regular touch-up appointments and a proper skincare regimen.
Microdermabrasion is often performed in conjunction with other skin renewal procedures, such as laser treatment and chemical peels.
Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face, hands, neck and chest to smooth texture, reduce scarring and remove blemishes and pre-cancerous growths to produce healthy, glowing skin. There are many different types of chemical peels: alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), betahydroxy acids, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and phenol. They range in strength from mild to strong and are each designed to provide different results, depending on a patient's skin condition.
A chemical peel can be used to effectively reduce the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, freckles, scarring and blotchiness, as well as improve skin tone and texture by removing damaged layers of skin. This procedure is also now performed on younger patients looking to prevent the signs of aging from appearing too early. A chemical peel can be combined with laser treatment for optimal results.
Depending on the type of peel performed, this procedure may lead to pigment changes, persistent redness, scarring, infection and more. However, most peels are performed with no complications, allowing patients to enjoy a younger appearance.
It is important for patients to follow their doctor's instructions after the peel and to avoid prolonged sun exposure in order to maximize the results of their chemical peel.
